In a move aimed at enhancing border security, U.S. Congressman Andy Biggs has announced the introduction of the Congressional Border Security Assessment Act. This legislation will empower members of Congress and their staff to conduct on-site assessments of border security along Indian reservations that stretch at least fifty contiguous miles along the southern border.

Biggs criticized the current administration’s border policies, stating, “The Biden-Harris Administration opened wide our southern border, and Members of Congress must not be restricted from attempting to survey and report on the state of the chaos. Tribal police on Indian reservations have impeded Members’ ability to travel to the U.S. border in the past. My legislation makes clear that this is unacceptable.”

Texas Congressman Brian Babin has expressed his support for Biggs’ efforts. Both lawmakers co-chair the Border Security Caucus in the U.S. House of Representatives, which focuses on addressing southern border issues through collaboration and advocacy.

Earlier this year, Biggs also introduced the Keeping Aid for Municipalities and Localities Accountable (KAMALA) Act, intended to prevent federal funding from supporting states that provide housing assistance to illegal immigrants. Furthermore, he has been a vocal critic of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, having previously initiated impeachment articles against him for allegedly failing to enforce immigration laws.

Since assuming office in January 2017, Biggs has consistently prioritized border security, often leading delegations to engage with local law enforcement and Border Patrol representatives. Recently re-elected to represent Arizona’s Fifth Congressional District, he continues to be a prominent voice on border issues. His earlier experience in the Arizona State Legislature, including a term as Senate President, complements his congressional career.
