REMINISCE IN STYLE: CELEBRATE TWO DECADES OF UPSCALE SINGERS’ SPRING CONCERTS

Scottsdale’s Upscale Singers are gearing up for a landmark celebration as they mark the 20th anniversary of their cherished performances. The upcoming concert, titled “Celebration in Song!”, promises to evoke nostalgia not only for the audience but also for the performers themselves.
This special event will feature favorite songs selected by the singers from the past two decades. With nearly half of the 45-member ensemble aged between 17 and 89 having been with the choir for over a decade, the emotional connection to the music runs deep.
The concerts will take place at Cactus Shadows Fine Arts Center, with shows scheduled for 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 5, and 4 p.m. on Sunday, April 6. Ticket prices are set at $35 for adults and $15 for youths aged 18 and younger.
A diverse repertoire will be performed, showcasing iconic pieces from productions such as “Wicked” and “Fiddler on the Roof,” along with works from acclaimed Broadway composer Stephen Sondheim.
Highlights of the performance include:
- “Mamma Mia”
- “You’re the One that I Want” from “Grease”
- “Who Loves You” by the Jersey Boys
- “Bring Him Home” from “Les Miserables”
- “Hail Holy Queen” from “Sister Act”
Even the Upscale Kids will take the stage, presenting crowd-pleasers from “Newsies,” “Annie,” and “The Lion King.”
Director Margaret Miner expressed enthusiasm about the event, stating, “This will be such a fun concert for everyone – the performers and audience members alike. The songs will be catchy and familiar, and I’m sure everyone will leave the theater humming several of their favorites!”
The concert will culminate in a heartfelt finale, with Upscale Singers alumni joining the choir for a rendition of “Thank You for the Music.” Miner reflected on the group’s journey, saying, “To think that the vision of a few people has grown to become a longstanding tradition in the community is very rewarding.”
