Record highs possible

Temperatures are set to rise as we head into the new workweek in Arizona. The weekend ended with 80-degree weather across the lower desert regions. On Sunday, the Valley’s highs reached the upper 70s to lower 80s, while the High Country saw temperatures in the 60s. Flagstaff recorded a high of 64 degrees under partly sunny skies, while Phoenix hit 81 degrees, just shy of the normal high for this date, which is 69 degrees. Remarkably, Sunday’s forecast approached the 2021 record high temperature.

Above-normal temperatures and calm conditions are expected this week. Monday and Tuesday afternoons will see the lower deserts reaching the lower 80s. Notably, Phoenix is forecasted to near record temperatures on Tuesday with a predicted high of 84 degrees, just one degree below the 1963 record of 85 degrees.

While cloud cover will increase, particularly on Monday afternoon, dry and calm weather will prevail. Midweek will bring a reduction in temperatures as energy moves in from the north, bringing additional clouds.

The upcoming WM Phoenix Open is anticipated to enjoy mostly sunny and warm weather. After highs in the lower 80s on Monday and Tuesday, temperatures will hover around 80 degrees from Wednesday through Friday.

Seven-Day Forecast:

  • SUNDAY: 81/54 Sunny, near record warmth
  • MONDAY: 83/54 Clouds increase, warm
  • TUESDAY: 84/57 Record 85 (1963)
  • WEDNESDAY: 79/54 Mostly sunny
  • THURSDAY: 80/53 Mostly sunny
  • FRIDAY: 79/53 Mostly sunny
  • SATURDAY: 77/52 Mostly sunny
