Record-Breaking Heat Looms Over Phoenix as Temperatures Approach 100 Degrees

Arizona is preparing for an unexpected surge in temperatures, with the Valley poised to experience highs approaching 100 degrees on Tuesday.
Forecasts indicate that many areas in Arizona will see temperatures rarely reached in March, with the Valley anticipating several consecutive days in the 90s and potentially even a record-setting day hitting the century mark.
Historically, such a phenomenon has only occurred once: on March 26, 1988.
A significant ridge of high pressure is responsible for the rising temperatures. By Tuesday, Phoenix could reach a high of 99 degrees, surpassing the existing record of 96 for that date.
Typically, the average first 100-degree day in Phoenix falls on May 2. While the predicted highs may not officially hit 100, brief peaks above that mark are conceivable.
Following this intense heat, the high-pressure ridge is expected to weaken, leading to a slight dip in temperatures as the week progresses.
By Friday, the Valley should experience more comfortable conditions, with highs in the mid-80s and a welcome breeze, bringing temperatures back to a more seasonal level as March concludes.
