Ranger Station Park Unveils Exciting Lawn Game Equipment Rentals!

The Sedona Parks and Recreation Department has introduced a self-service kiosk at Ranger Station Park, allowing visitors to rent recreational equipment such as cornhole bags, mini-golf putters, and ping-pong paddles for a fee of $5 per hour. The kiosk was installed in December, enhancing the park’s offerings for local families and visitors alike.
To utilize the rental service, patrons must have a smartphone equipped with QR code scanning capabilities. The conveniently located lockers are situated on the park’s south side, with equipment rentals available daily from sunrise to sunset. Notably, there are no reservations necessary.
“Whether people rent or bring their own equipment, it’s a fun thing to come do in the park,” said Sedona Parks and Recreation Manager Josh Frewin. “It’s a simple way to enjoy time with family or meet friends.”
The kiosk is operated by Rent.fun, a company transitioning from kayak rentals. This marks their second installation of an equipment rental kiosk, following a successful launch in Wichita, Kansas. The installation in Sedona cost $2,000.50, with rental proceeds being shared between the city and Rent.fun.
Frewin expressed enthusiasm about the positive feedback regarding the new amenities. “We wanted to add some fun options to encourage socializing,” he noted. “It’s exciting to see people using the park and enjoying these features.”
Additionally, a ribbon-cutting ceremony took place on March 17 to mark the opening of a new playground at the park, attended by about 40 community members.
Frewin emphasized the city’s goal for Ranger Station Park: “We wanted it to be a place for the whole family and community, with something for everyone.” Future developments include two facilities that will be available for event rentals, enhancing the park’s utility for gatherings and functions. The park features a playground, grassy areas, an adult fitness station, and a walking path to accommodate diverse interests.
Looking ahead, Frewin noted plans for a new shade structure, similar to those at Posse Grounds and Sunset parks, to be installed near the playground. The rangers’ house and barn are also expected to be available for rental by late fall 2025.
