Glendale Union High School District Celebrates Student Achievements

Sunnyslope High School seniors Manny Jacobs and Avery Lopez have been named National Merit Finalists, showcasing their academic prowess. Only a select number of students achieve this recognition based on their outstanding PSAT/NMSQT performances.

This accolade reflects not just test scores but also leadership and other significant accomplishments. In a different domain, the Fire Science team from Sunnyslope secured first place across three categories at the district’s annual muster competition.

The muster challenges students with fire-related simulations, including equipment handling and a physical relay involving a 170-pound dummy. “The students trained diligently since December, showing exceptional commitment,” the school reported. Notably, they featured the fastest coed and all-girls teams; Oswaldo Aragon emerged as the standout male competitor.
