Prepare for a Chilly Weekend: A Major Cooldown is Upon Us!

Above normal, for now. A big cooldown comes our way this weekend!

Fire weather watch for portions of AZ Saturday & Sunday due to high wind and low humidity

PHOENIX — A weather system from California is set to influence conditions in Arizona starting Friday. Sunny skies and breezy conditions will be prevalent in the Valley, with gusty winds expected to affect the High Country throughout the weekend.

While this weather system won’t bring rain, it will lead to a significant drop in temperatures. Residents can anticipate more dry and windy conditions, typical for spring, which will elevate the fire risk across the state.

Following the passage of this system, temperatures are projected to rise back into the 90s in Phoenix for most of next week. This is notable as the average high for late April usually sits in the upper 80s.

Here’s a look at the seven-day forecast:

FRIDAY: 93/63 – Warm, breezy in the afternoon

SATURDAY: 87/59 – Mainly sunny & breezy

SUNDAY: 81/59 – Sunny, below normal temperatures

MONDAY: 85/62 – Sunny & seasonably mild

TUESDAY: 90/65 – Sunny & warmer

THURSDAY: 94/67 – A few clouds around

Arizona’s weather patterns have a history of being severe, with thunderstorms, floods, and fire outbreaks occurring across the region. Residents are encouraged to share any weather-related photos or videos safely through the 12 News app or on social media using the hashtag #BeOn12.
