Pre-roll poll: Most Maricopans toke up weekly

A recent InMaricopa poll reveals that a majority of Maricopa residents are engaging actively with cannabis products. The survey, conducted in January 2025, sampled 1,353 locals, uncovering that 58% purchase cannabis at least weekly, while approximately two-thirds visit a dispensary once a month.

The poll’s findings indicate that many respondents use cannabis for therapeutic purposes. Facebook commenters shared insights about their experiences, highlighting health benefits. Ben Hauge, a resident of Amarillo Creek, visits a dispensary monthly to manage pain related to arthritis and anxiety.

James Cochran from Hidden Valley reported buying gummies each month for sleep enhancement and relief from back pain. In contrast, Chris Prine from Rancho El Dorado noted that, while he doesn’t consume cannabis himself, he recognizes its positive effects on family members coping with issues like insomnia and chemotherapy side effects. He emphasized the importance of reducing the stigma surrounding cannabis use.

Conversely, opinions vary among residents. Bobby Bruce, a 53-year-old from RED, expressed a casual attitude toward cannabis, noting he has smoked daily since high school without any adverse effects. Destiny Boone claimed she smokes an ounce weekly, highlighting the variable consumption habits within the community.

However, the poll also unveiled that about one-third of respondents do not partake in cannabis use. Strong sentiments surfaced on social media, with individuals like Cynthia Kane asserting, “Never have, never will. Got better things to do with my money,” while Teresa Rockwood reaffirmed her lifelong abstinence with, “Never in all my life. And I am NOT lying.”
