Police Respond to Shooting Incident at Circle K

(First InMaricopa) An officer-involved shooting at the Circle K gas station, located at the intersection of John Wayne Parkway and Bowlin Road, has left at least one person injured. The incident occurred around 3 p.m., prompting a swift response from law enforcement.
Local residents reported hearing “at least six or seven gunshots” and observed a heavy police presence immediately following the incident. One nearby resident recounted seeing emergency medical technicians near the emergency room doors, alongside a helicopter that landed shortly thereafter.
Preliminary accounts indicate that both a suspect and an officer sustained injuries during the shooting. Cell Simmons, an Alterra resident who witnessed the aftermath while stopping for gas, described a chaotic scene. “I saw some guy laying on the ground bleeding,” he recounted. “When I arrived, the cops were on-scene and carrying the officer that was hit to the ER. The guy on the ground, I am unsure if he was alive or not, but a lady at a pump close by mentioned that he was still moving.”
As of now, Maricopa police have not disclosed the identities or specific conditions of those injured. This is a developing story; further updates will follow as more information becomes available. David Iverson contributed to this report.
