Police Pursue Hit-and-Run Suspect in JWP Case

Maricopa Police are investigating a hit-and-run incident that occurred on October 27, 2024, near one of the city’s most trafficked intersections. Authorities responded to North John Wayne Parkway and West Smith-Enke Road at approximately 5:45 p.m., following reports of the collision, according to city spokesperson Monica Williams.
A damaged white Chevrolet truck was found stopped in a northbound lane. The debris scattered across the roadway indicated the severity of the incident. Observers noted that the driver’s side door of the truck was difficult to open, suggesting the impact had compromised the vehicle.
The driver responsible for the collision fled the scene. “The offending car crossed the median and then left,” Williams said in an update to the press later that evening. She added that police have potential identification leads for the suspect vehicle and are actively seeking it.
The driver of the white truck was transported to the hospital for precautionary reasons. By 6:10 p.m., emergency crews had cleared the scene.
