Police: Man Convicted for Harassment Had Judge’s Address on Him at Arrest

A former real estate agent, Michael Scaramella, 68, was arrested in Green Valley last month amid a slew of legal troubles, including harassment of a local judge. During his apprehension, he was found with $800 in cash, a list of his victims, and the contact details of Judge Ray Carroll.
Scaramella’s legal issues date back to 2019 when his former girlfriend sought an Order of Protection against him after a domestic incident. Judge Carroll granted the injunction, triggering Scaramella’s subsequent harassment of the judge and the couple associated with his ex-girlfriend. In February 2022, he was convicted of multiple counts of harassment and interfering with judicial proceedings.
In January, Scaramella was taken into custody at a residence on West Demetrie Loop. Reports indicated that when authorities arrived, he held a box cutter and had a significant cut on his arm. Law enforcement initially attempted to deceive him by posing as utility workers, but when that did not yield results, they used a key from his landlord to gain entry.
Upon encountering deputies, Scaramella allegedly raised the knife towards them, prompting a sergeant to kick him in the chest to create distance. After he fell, medical personnel treated his injury before he made disturbing comments about not wanting help. Witness accounts noted that Scaramella expressed resentment towards Judge Carroll, blaming him for his legal troubles.
Scaramella faces serious consequences if found in violation of his probation terms, with the potential for 157 days in jail for each of his offenses. He is prohibited from contacting his victims directly or indirectly. The judge’s concerns for the safety of those involved were significant enough to warrant multiple arrest warrants when Scaramella failed to appear in court.
