PNW Couple Scores Iconic Dream House for $225K Less Amid Stunning Views: ‘It’s Just Majestic’

A cliffside beach-themed home in Maricopa recently made headlines for its significant sale price. Initially sold for $750,000 in May 2024, it returned to the market just a year later.

This Maricopa DreamHouse, designed to evoke the feeling of an oceanfront getaway, featured coastal décor and minimalist furnishings. However, following the first sale, the new owners stripped the interior of its theme.

Unexpectedly, the property was relisted at a discounted price of $800,000 but eventually sold for $575,000 after 240 days on the market.

Although it retains its striking architectural elements, like large windows and a vibrant pool, the home lacks the seaside decorations that once characterized it.

The new homeowners, MaryAlice and David Wallis, are determined to restore the home’s coastal charm. Currently residing in Washington State, they are looking forward to retiring in Arizona.

MaryAlice serves as a city council member in Longview, Washington, with her term ending soon.

The couple has deep roots in Maricopa, having assisted MaryAlice’s father in relocating to the area in 2008. They returned him to Washington shortly before his passing in 2023.

“Maricopa became a second home,” MaryAlice reflected, emphasizing their frequent visits.

David described their purchase as a “golden opportunity,” reflecting on the emotional ties they share with the community.

As they prepare for their Arizona retirement, the Wallises anticipate adjusting to life away from the coast, where they co-own property.

“Being in the desert, it’s just majestic,” David said, appreciating the tranquility and unique beauty of the landscape.

In the future, the couple may offer the home as an Airbnb, allowing others to experience a beach escape far from the ocean.

The house was initially built in 2021 by Beach House LLC, which purchased the property for $90,000. Its first sale occurred in 1999 for just $27,000.
