Pinal County Republicans Face Legal Fallout but Rise Again

The Pinal County Republican Committee faced a brief crisis this week after receiving notification from the Arizona Corporation Commission (ACC) that it had been dissolved due to failure to update its membership records.

This non-status was resolved swiftly, as committee leaders worked promptly to submit the necessary documentation to amend their records with the ACC. By Friday, spokesperson Nicole Garcia confirmed that the committee was “back in good standing and active as of this morning after correcting their deficiency.”

Garcia explained that Arizona law mandates entities to inform the ACC of any changes to their membership lists. When the committee failed to respond to notices, the ACC proceeded with administrative dissolution. However, required updates were made, restoring the organization’s active status.

The committee’s dissolution stemmed from inaccuracies in its articles of organization, which the ACC deemed a violation of state law. This prompted PCRC member Shirley Carter to question the lack of timely updates from the committee’s chairperson, Belinda Rodriguez, and the legal firm Wilenchik and Bartness.

Carter highlighted that the ACC had provided a 60-day notice to rectify the membership discrepancies but noted that action was not taken in time. “For them to let this lapse, that’s not a good position to be in,” she remarked, expressing her concerns in an email to fellow committee members. “We need to get back to some transparency in all this.”

Attempts to reach chairwoman Rodriguez for comment on the matter on Friday were unsuccessful.
