Pima Softball Dominates Chandler-Gilbert with a 23-0 ACCAC Blowout

The Pima Community College softball team continued their impressive performance with two dominant victories over Chandler-Gilbert Community College on Tuesday. The Aztecs, now 47-5 overall and 35-5 in the ACCAC, secured their 14th consecutive win.
Freshman Jiselle Nunez led the offensive charge, going 5 for 6 with five RBIs and two runs scored. Other standout players included sophomore Talia Martin, who finished the day with 5 hits in 8 at-bats, contributing two RBIs and scoring five runs. Freshman Belen Camacho also had an exceptional day, recording four RBIs and a win in the circle while going 4 for 7 at the plate. Meanwhile, sophomore Aubrey Marx and freshman Sariah Ferrentino also made significant contributions, with Ferrentino claiming a victory in pitching.
In Game 1, the Aztecs overwhelmed the Coyotes with a score of 9-0 after five innings. Camacho not only excelled on the mound, pitching three innings with just one hit allowed, but also delivered a crucial bases-clearing RBI double in the third inning. This hit propelled the Aztecs to a solid 4-0 lead. Throughout the game, the Aztecs showcased their offensive skills with multiple players contributing to the scoreline, including Julissa Lopez, who smacked a two-RBI double.
The final statistics revealed Pima’s dominance: Camacho went 2 for 3 with four RBIs, and Lopez also had a strong day with 2 hits and 3 RBIs. Martin, Nunez, and Rivera each made key contributions as well, reinforcing the team’s balanced offense.
In Game 2, Pima continued to shine, shutting out Chandler-Gilbert again, this time with a score of 14-0 in five innings. Sariah Ferrentino remained unbeaten, striking out four while allowing just three hits. The Aztecs scored a staggering eight runs in the fourth inning, with significant hits from Martin, Marx, and a grand slam from Nevaeh Bracamonte who drove in four runs with a deep hit to left field.
Nunez once again showcased her talent, achieving 4 for 4 with four RBIs in this game. Camacho and Bracamonte followed closely behind in contribution, ensuring the team maintained a powerful offensive presence throughout the match.
Pima Community College will next host their final ACCAC home doubleheader of the regular season on Tuesday, April 29, against No. 6 Phoenix College, with the first game set to begin at noon.
