Pima High Jump Trio Soars with 15 Points, Green Claims Runner-Up; Droeg Finishes 6th in Heptathlon

The Pima Community College women’s track & field team wrapped up the second day of competition at the NJCAA Division I Outdoor National Championships in Hutchinson, Kansas, on Friday.
Ranked No. 8 nationally, the Aztecs secured 18 points, propelling them up to sixth place in the team standings with a cumulative total of 24 points after two days.
Sophomores Izzy Green, April Necaise, and Ja’Niya Ross contributed significantly, collectively earning 15 points and achieving All-American status in the high jump. Green excelled with a second-place finish, clearing a career-best 1.71 meters (5 feet, 7.25 inches) on her second attempt, which garnered eight points for the team.
Necaise followed closely, placing fifth by clearing 1.62 meters (5 feet, 4.25 inches) on her first try, earning four points. Ross, finishing sixth, also cleared 1.63 meters (5 feet, 4.25 inches) but on her third attempt, contributing an additional three points.
Freshman Hannah Droeg earned All-American honors with a sixth-place finish in the heptathlon, amassing 4,103 points and adding three more points for the Aztecs.
Other notable finishes included Layla Konski, who placed 13th in the heptathlon with a total of 3,436 points.
The Aztecs will conclude their track & field season on Saturday with the final day of competition at the NJCAA Division I Outdoor National Championships. Events are set to commence at 8 a.m. Tucson time.
