Pima Baseball Dominates Yavapai College with Doubleheader Victory!

The Pima Community College baseball team, currently holding a record of 35-9, achieved a significant victory in a non-conference doubleheader against Yavapai College on Tuesday, winning both games decisively.
Ranked No. 16, the Aztecs have been on a hot streak, claiming 12 victories in their last 13 games. Notable performances included sophomore Nolan Ganter, who concluded the day with four hits in nine at-bats, driving in three runs and scoring four times. Freshman Jackson Glueck also made a mark, recording three hits, four RBIs, and scoring twice. Meanwhile, sophomore Caden Richards contributed with two hits, three RBIs, and multiple runs and walks.
In the first game, the Aztecs defeated the Yavapai College Roughriders 9-3. A pivotal moment came in the fourth inning when the Aztecs exploded for seven runs, breaking a 1-1 tie. Freshman Sean Barta initiated the rally with a lead-off home run, followed by a pivotal two-run double from Ganter and Richards. The inning culminated with Glueck’s RBI single, extending the lead to 8-1.
Leon Cereceres also shone in this matchup, hitting a lead-off home run in the sixth inning. Other contributors included Barta, MacDonald, and Ganter, with each delivering key hits that helped build the Aztecs’ lead. Sophomore Lucas Casey was dominant on the mound, pitching five innings and allowing just one unearned run while striking out four batters.
The second game showcased the Aztecs’ relentless offense, resulting in a 12-5 victory. Pima scored in every inning, with Barta’s RBI single kicking off the scoring. Seniors Collin Senior and others helped consolidate the Aztecs’ lead, with Glueck hitting a two-run home run in the sixth inning. Ganter rounded out the day with a strong offensive performance, contributing three runs and a critical triple.
Freshman Brady Hall earned his first win of the season in a relief role, providing solid pitching support. As the Aztecs prepare to face No. 3 ranked South Mountain Community College on Saturday, they remain confident, with the first game of the ACCAC conference action scheduled for noon.
