Phoenix SciTech Festival Ignites Passion for Future STEM Leaders

PHOENIX — The annual 2025 SciTech Festival is underway, showcasing the wonders of STEM education to families across Arizona. Hosted by the SciTech Institute, Arizona Science Center, and Cox Communications, this event has become a highlight for young learners and their parents.
“Getting kids involved in STEM is crucial. My daughter loves understanding how the world functions,” said Leeanne Denny, who attended the festival with her 14-month-old daughter, Elizabeth.
According to Susan Anable, Phoenix Market VP for Cox Communications, their mission aligns closely with initiatives like the Arizona SciTech Festival. “Building the next generation for future challenges is essential,” Anable remarked.
Children participated in interactive exhibits designed to ignite their curiosity. They created spacecraft in the My Digital World exhibit and explored The Power of Poison, which illustrates the impact of toxins on health and history.
“The buzz in the exhibition is palpable,” said Sari Custer from the Arizona Science Center. “We delve into how poisons exist in nature and their relevance in myth and literature.”
Other highlights included a rocket-building workshop and hands-on sessions where children assembled computers. They even engaged with a former NASA astronaut trainer, gaining insights into space exploration.
“Kids are always curious about practical aspects, like using the bathroom in space,” noted aerospace educator Brian Ewenson. “It’s not about turning them into astronauts but opening their minds to possibilities in the space industry.”
The SciTech Institute remains committed to fostering STEM education and career opportunities through events like this festival, inspiring future leaders in science, technology, engineering, and math.
