Phoenix Police Probe Dual Deadly Incidents: One Victim Shot, Suspect Killed by Officers
PHOENIX — Authorities are investigating two related incidents following a shooting on Sunday morning. The events unfolded when officers responded to calls of a shooting near 49th Avenue and Thunderbird Road around 8 a.m.
Upon arrival, police discovered a victim who did not survive the attack. Witnesses reported seeing a vehicle speeding away from the scene, prompting officers to pursue it. The chase concluded around 8:15 a.m. near a CVS, close to 99th Avenue and Thunderbird Road.
According to reports, the suspect exited the vehicle and attempted to flee while armed. Police instructed him to stop, but he allegedly aimed his gun at them. Officers responded by firing, striking the suspect, who later succumbed to his injuries at a hospital. Fortunately, no officers were harmed in the incident.
The identities of both the deceased victim and the suspect have yet to be disclosed. Investigators have cordoned off the area, indicating that it will remain inaccessible for an extended period as they continue to gather evidence.
