Phoenix Hero: Homeowner Opens Fire on Burglary Suspect, Authorities Report

PHOENIX — A break-in incident culminated in tragedy Friday night when a homeowner shot an intruder at a residence near 107th Avenue and Indian School Road, according to the Phoenix Police Department.

Officers arrived on the scene to find a male victim suffering from gunshot wounds. He was promptly transported to a local hospital but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.

Subsequently, the homeowner was detained and admitted to firing the shots that struck the intruder. Following an interview, law enforcement officials released the homeowner from custody on Saturday.

This case is now under review by the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office. Further details regarding the incident have yet to be disclosed.
