Phoenix Boys Choir seeks compositions

The Phoenix Boys Choir has announced the return of its international choral composition competition, “New Works Rising,” marking its third consecutive year. This initiative, launched in 2022, has attracted nearly 200 composers worldwide, showcasing their talent in crafting new music for boys and young men.

Submissions are open to composers of all ages and nationalities, emphasizing innovative and accessible choral repertoire. This year’s theme, “True North,” encourages originality and creativity, embodying the spirit of the choir’s upcoming 2024-25 season. Artistry will be evaluated by a distinguished panel of prominent choral composers, conductors, and educators.

Artists interested in participating must submit their compositions by Sunday, September 15, to qualify for three cash awards. The prizes include $1,500 for first place, $1,000 for second place, and $500 for third place. Winning pieces will have the opportunity to premiere during the choir’s upcoming season.
