PCSO Probes Mysterious Masked Figure at Bus Stop
Pinal County Sheriff’s Office is actively investigating an alarming incident involving a masked man who approached two young children at a bus stop in Hidden Valley.
The children, ages six and nine, were reportedly returning home from the bus stop located at West Papago Road and Pecan Woods Boulevard when a light-skinned male sporting a black hoodie and mask approached them. This information was disclosed in an email from the Maricopa Unified School District (MUSD) to parents.
In a quick response, the older child yelled to alert his younger sibling, prompting the suspect to flee the scene.
The investigation is ongoing, with the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) reviewing security footage and consulting nearby registered sex offenders. MUSD has confirmed that they will share further updates once more information is available.
This incident marks the second occurrence of concerning behavior at a local bus stop this month. Earlier, a Gilbert man faced charges for lewd acts in front of a 14-year-old at a stop in Rancho El Dorado.
In light of these unsettling events, the school district emphasized the importance of community awareness and preparedness. They provided the following safety advice for children:
- Do not accompany strangers.
- Avoid adults who request assistance.
- Refrain from allowing strangers into your home.
- If you feel uneasy, remove yourself from the situation.
- If someone grabs you, react swiftly.
- When biking, position your bike between you and the adult.
Additionally, parents are encouraged to maintain vigilance:
- Ensure children are supervised outdoors.
- Monitor all outdoor activities closely.
- Instruct children on how to call 911 in emergencies.
- Empower children to refuse anything that feels wrong.
- Regularly update your child’s photograph, especially for younger children.
The community remains on alert as authorities work diligently to ensure the safety of its residents.
