PCC"s Huntsman & Sulpizio earn All-American honors in pole vault at NJCAA Outdoor Nationals

The Pima Community College men’s track & field team kicked off the NJCAA Division I Outdoor National Championships on Thursday at Gowans Stadium in Hutchinson, Kansas, finishing the first day tied for fourth place among 23 teams with 10 points.

Sophomore Carter Huntsman and freshman Ketch Sulpizio, both earning their status as two-time NJCAA Division I All-Americans, excelled in the pole vault. Huntsman secured a third-place finish with a vault of 4.76 meters (15 feet, 7.50 inches), contributing six points to the Aztecs’ tally. Sulpizio followed closely, finishing fifth with a height of 4.66 meters (15 feet, 3.50 inches) and adding four points to the team’s score.

Other notable performances included Louis Madrigal-Diaz, Hollace Neasham, Evan Rasoumoff, and Tayvien Biancuzzo, who placed 13th in the 4×800 meter relay with a personal record of 7:50.73. Benjamin Morgan finished 16th in the hammer throw, achieving a distance of 44.13 meters (144 feet, 9 inches), while Nasir Tucker took 17th in the long jump with a leap of 6.65 meters (21 feet, 9.75 inches).

The Aztecs are set to continue their competition on Friday, starting at 7 a.m. Tucson time, as they aim to improve their standings in the championship.
