PCC's Gonzales & Wes earn back-to-back ACCAC Player of the Week honors

Pima Community College’s men’s basketball team recently celebrated two standout players who received accolades from the ACCAC conference for their exceptional performances. Cohenj Gonzales, a sophomore guard from Mesquite High School, was recognized as the ACCAC Division II Player of the Week for Week 10, while Wes Ball from Marana High School earned the same honor for Week 9.

Gonzales has been particularly impressive, scoring 31 points against Central Arizona College on December 28 and matching that feat against the No. 4 ranked Salt Lake Community College on December 30. In his last four games, he has averaged 22.3 points, 6.3 assists, and 2.8 rebounds. His shooting percentages have also been notable, hitting 55 percent from the field, 50 percent from three-point range, and 80 percent from the free-throw line.

This season, Gonzales has started in 13 games, averaging 21.0 points, 6.1 assists, and 2.9 rebounds per game. His efficiency is highlighted by shooting 50 percent from the field and a remarkable 86.3 percent from the line.

Wes Ball has also made significant contributions, averaging 16.0 points and 6.0 rebounds in his last four games. His standout moment came during a thrilling 95-92 victory over Dawson Community College, where he recorded a double-double with 27 points and 10 rebounds. Ball boasts an impressive shooting performance, with 70 percent from the field and 71 percent from the charity stripe.

The Aztecs look to maintain momentum as they return to ACCAC conference action on Saturday against Scottsdale Community College. The game is scheduled for 4 p.m. at the Aztec Gymnasium located on the West Campus.
