PCC's Applegate breaks own record in 60-m hurdles, Brown improves qualifier in 400 at NAU Tune-Up

The Pima Community College men’s and women’s track & field teams wrapped up their indoor regular season on Friday at the NAU Tune-Up held in Flagstaff.

In a standout performance, freshman Jake Applegate shattered the Pima indoor school record in the 60-meter hurdles, clocking in at 8.25 seconds. This was a personal best, surpassing his previous record of 8.30 seconds set on February 8, which itself had broken the former record of 8.37 seconds held by Nicholas Patterson since 2024.

Meanwhile, freshman Taylor Brown made his mark by ascending to third place in the 400-meter indoor school record books. He achieved a national qualifying time of 48.06 seconds, improving on his earlier time of 48.18 set on January 17.

Next up for the Aztecs is the NJCAA Indoor National Championships, scheduled for March 7-8 at The Sports Performance Center in Lubbock, Texas.
