Parks launches master plan

In September, the City of Phoenix Parks and Recreation Department initiated a master plan process aimed at guiding the future development and management of the city’s parks and recreation facilities. This comprehensive plan is designed to set a standard that enhances the community’s green spaces for years to come.

“Public engagement is a key component of this master plan process,” stated the department in an official announcement. “Our parks and recreation facilities are essential for the health and well-being of the community, and we want to hear from you.” The department emphasizes the importance of gathering meaningful feedback from residents, stakeholders, and park users throughout the planning phase.

The community is invited to participate in shaping the system’s priorities and goals. Various opportunities for input include surveys, public meetings, and interactive workshops, allowing residents to express their thoughts on the future of neighborhood parks.

“Our goal is to create not only a beautiful park system but one that reflects the needs and desires of our diverse community,” said Parks and Recreation Director Cynthia Aguilar. She highlighted that resident feedback is critical to achieving this vision.

The master plan will also address significant issues such as water use and public safety, incorporating Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) principles. Through these sustainable practices, the department aims to create safe, welcoming spaces for every community member.
