Paris Rewind, July 30: Simone Biles and US women's gymnastics complete redemption tour

Biles helped put the U.S. back on top of the sport after a second-place finish three years ago in Tokyo.

PARIS, France — Simone Biles and the rest of Team USA celebrated atop the podium after a dominant performance in the team final Tuesday.

Biles, Sunisa Lee, Jordan Chiles, and Jade Carey ended their “Redemption Tour” with a gold in front of a raucous crowd at the Bercy Arena.

The U.S. women’s gymnastics team, led by Simone Biles, dominated in the women’s team event, reclaiming the top spot after a second-place finish in Tokyo.

Biles’ performance earned her a fifth Olympic gold medal.

The victory secured the U.S. as a gymnastics powerhouse once more.

An enthusiastic crowd, including celebrities like Nicole Kidman, Natalie Portman, Serena Williams, Spike Lee, Michael Phelps, and Nadia Comaneci, witnessed the historic moment.

Simone Biles became the most decorated American gymnast, surpassing Shannon Miller with her eighth Olympic medal.

Italy took silver, and Brazil claimed the bronze.

The U.S. men’s soccer team advanced to the knockout stage after a 24-year wait.

They beat Guinea 3-0 in Saint-Etienne, securing a quarterfinal spot.

The team will face Morocco in Paris on Friday.

Kevin Paredes scored twice, and Djordje Mihailovic added a critical free kick.

The victory followed back-to-back games against New Zealand and Guinea after an opening loss to France.

Meanwhile, the U.S. women’s rugby sevens team secured their first Olympic medal.

Alex Sedrick’s last-minute try and conversion clinched a 14-12 victory over Australia.

Ilona Maher praised Sedrick’s effort as the team celebrated at Stade de France.

The Americans rebounded from a semifinal loss to New Zealand.

But it wasn’t all triumphs for Team USA.

In swimming, American athletes couldn’t secure gold in Tuesday’s events.

Australian Kaylee McKeown defeated Regan Smith in the 100-meter backstroke.

Katharine Berkoff secured bronze for the U.S. in the same event.

Irish swimmer Daniel Wiffen took gold in the men’s 800-meter freestyle, defeating defending champion Bobby Finke of the U.S.

Great Britain’s team defended their title in the men’s 4×200 freestyle relay.
