Mystery solved: Police say Palisades Drive shooting was self-inflicted, accidental

Lake Havasu City Police responded urgently to reports of a shooting in the 2300 block of Palisades Drive earlier this week. Eyewitnesses claimed a victim had been shot by two suspects who then fled the scene. However, investigations revealed a much simpler scenario.

Officers arrived on-site around 2:45 p.m. on Monday and found signs of an injury, but no one was present. The alleged victim was later taken to Havasu Regional Medical Center by a private vehicle to treat an injury sustained to his left hand.

City officials disclosed that the situation unfolded when the victim was showing a firearm to friends. The gun discharged accidentally, causing the injury.

The Lake Havasu City Police Department clarified that there are no suspects at large and that the community is not in danger. The case has been officially classified as an accidental, self-inflicted injury.
