Over 300 Shell Casings Discovered at West Phoenix Deadly Shooting Scene

PHOENIX — A tragic incident unfolded early Sunday morning at a house party in Phoenix, where gunfire left one woman dead and a teenage boy injured. The shooting occurred around 2 a.m. near 35th Avenue and McDowell Road, prompting immediate police response.
Responding officers arrived at a home on Willetta Street and discovered chaos: more than 300 shell casings littered the ground as partygoers fled the scene. A witness described the pandemonium, stating, “They started shooting like crazy. We got a bunch of bullets toward us.” Many sought cover as bullets flew in various directions, leading to damage to nearby cars and homes.
The victim, identified as 21-year-old Amanda Franco, was found with gunshot wounds and, despite efforts from firefighters, later died at the scene. A teenage boy sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a hospital for care. Fortunately, no one else was reported injured in the violent outbreak.
Initial investigations indicate the shooting stemmed from a fight at the party, which escalated outside, leading to multiple individuals firing weapons. The Phoenix police have asked for assistance from the public, particularly those who may have captured video of the incident, to come forward with information.
“Detectives believe there are more individuals out there who possibly captured video footage of the incident,” the police stated. Witnesses with relevant footage are encouraged to submit it to the authorities.
