Ono Hawaiian BBQ Set to Spice Up Sonoran Creek Marketplace Menu

It appears that Filiberto’s is not moving forward to occupy the vacant Suite 130 at Sonoran Creek Marketplace in Maricopa, Arizona.
Initially targeted for the spot since 2020, the beloved eatery was expected to bring its signature dishes of carne asada fries and California burritos to the area. However, the latest updates indicate a shift in plans as California-based Ono Hawaiian BBQ has emerged as the new contender for the location, which is positioned at 20320 N. John Wayne Parkway.
This location will join notable neighbors such as Jimmy John’s, Crumbl Cookies, and MOD Pizza. Ono Hawaiian BBQ has now been marked as a commercial project under construction.
Filiberto’s had previously submitted plans for the site in November 2021, but those plans expired in July 2023, leaving the suite open for new opportunities.
Despite the announcement, a recent inspection of the suite revealed it remains untouched, with dusty floors and exposed insulation indicating a lack of substantial progress.
Moreover, a review of public records shows that there are no permits for tenant improvements filed with the city, which typically signify that a business is gearing up for construction.
InMaricopa has reached out to city officials for clarification and is currently awaiting a response regarding the status of the project.
If completed, this location would mark the 23rd Ono Hawaiian BBQ in Arizona, following their most recent opening in December at 67th Avenue and McDowell Road.
