Ono Hawaiian BBQ Announces Exciting Maricopa Launch in Pinal County

Construction is currently progressing at the future Ono Hawaiian BBQ at Sonoran Creek Marketplace, with the opening anticipated on July 1, 2025. Last week, the chain submitted detailed signage and drive-thru plans for a previously vacant retail pad in Maricopa.
According to documents filed with the city’s development services on June 24, the California-based chain will occupy a 4,300-square-foot suite at 20320 N. John Wayne Parkway, Suite 130. This location was initially approved for a Filiberto’s Mexican Food restaurant, which was never constructed. Following five years of delays, the permit expired, leading Filiberto’s to launch a food truck nearby last month.
Ono’s proposal includes a comprehensive signage package featuring two large LED-illuminated wall signs, an under-canopy “Aloha” sign, drive-thru menu boards, and an update to the monument sign at the shopping center entrance. A dedicated drive-thru lane will wrap around the building, which also includes a Jimmy John’s, Crumbl, and MOD Pizza.
Reporters were permitted inside the construction site this morning. The space is quickly taking shape, with metal framing visible, overhead ductwork in place, and a stainless steel kitchen hood already installed. At 10:45 a.m., crews prepared to cut into the wall for the drive-thru bay.
This will be Ono Hawaiian BBQ’s first location in Pinal County and its 16th establishment in Arizona. Currently, the chain operates 15 restaurants across the state and is planning another location in Queen Creek at the intersection of Ellsworth and Queen Creek Roads.
Ono Hawaiian BBQ specializes in Hawaiian-style comfort food, offering items like grilled chicken, Spam musubi, noodles, and seafood plates. The chain has over 100 locations across Arizona, California, and Nevada.
No official opening date for the Maricopa location has been announced as of yet.
