On-Air Pioneers: The Rise of Sentinel Journalists

A series of political events is on the horizon, marking a busy period for Tucson voters. Key dates and discussions are set to spotlight local governance and electoral processes.

On May 9, Tucson Sentinel reporter Jim Nintzel will participate in a panel on AZPM’s Press Room. The discussion will cover significant news stories from the week. This program, moderated by Steve Goldstein, airs at 8:30 p.m. on PBS 6 and NPR affiliate KUAZ-FM, 89.1 FM. It will also be available on the AZPM YouTube channel and as a podcast.

Additionally, on the same day, Co-Publisher and Editor Dylan Smith will guest-host the Buckmaster show alongside reporter Paul Ingram. They will interview Tucson City Manager Tom Thomure at noon on KVOI, 1030 AM, and episodes can be streamed at buckmastershow.com.

The following week, on May 14, Nintzel will return as guest-host for another Buckmaster show segment. This will also air at noon on KVOI, 1030 AM.

June will see further political discussions. Scheduled for June 6 is an interview featuring Tucson Chief of Police Chad Kasmar on the Buckmaster show, presented by Paul Ingram. This interview will also be broadcast at noon on KVOI.

Important election dates include June 16, the registration deadline for the CD7 special election. Early voting begins on June 18, as ballots are mailed out for the CD7 special primary election.

As the summer continues, key electoral deadlines persist. On July 8, registration for the city of Tucson primary election will close, with early voting starting on July 9. The primary election for the CD7 special election will take place on July 15, followed by the Tucson City Council primary on August 5.

Looking ahead, early voting will commence on August 27 for the CD7 special general election. The general election for the CD7 special election is set for September 23, while Tucson City Council general election day takes place on November 4.
