Olympian Simone Biles Shoots for Gold in Paris with Husband Jonathan Owens Cheering in the Stands
Simone Biles’ husband, Jonathan Owens, was spotted in the stands cheering her on during the women’s gymnastics team final.
WASHINGTON — The spotlight is on Simone Biles as she aims for her first medal since the Tokyo Olympics. Among the cheering fans in the crowd is her husband, Jonathan Owens.
The broadcast showed Owens seated next to Biles’ parents, Nellie and Ron Biles, as he supported Team USA.
With the “twisties” and her Tokyo experience behind her, Biles headlines Team USA’s women’s gymnastics team alongside stars such as Sunisa Lee, Jordan Chiles, Jade Carey, and newcomer Hezly Rivera.
Jonathan Owens made the trip to Paris to support his wife, joining her parents, Nellie and Ron, in the stands.
A photo captured Owens standing up to clap and cheer, proudly holding an American flag.
Owens shared photos on his Instagram story on Sunday as he watched Biles’ qualification round from the U.S. He arrived in Paris Monday night, just in time for the team final on Tuesday.
Family members cannot be on the competition floor during the Olympics unless they are coaching the athlete.
Owens is currently playing as a safety for the Chicago Bears. The NFL team has allowed him to miss five days of training camp to support Biles in Paris.
The couple is building a house in the Houston suburbs, expected to be completed by late summer or early fall, post-Paris Games.
Biles and Owens married in April 2023 at a courthouse in Houston.
They met on a dating app called Raya in March 2020, beginning their relationship shortly after. Following their courthouse wedding, they held a second ceremony in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, a few weeks later.
“I do … officially Owens,” Biles shared on Instagram, posting photos from the ceremony. Owens called her “My person, forever” in his own Instagram post.
