Officer fired at suspect during domestic violence investigation, shooting under investigation


The suspect was not injured and was later arrested for assault on an officer.

LAKE HAVASU CITY, Ariz. — The Mohave County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting involving a Lake Havasu City police officer.

According to MCSO, an officer with the Lake Havasu Police Department was called to Oro Grande Boulevard around 9:07 p.m. Thursday for a domestic violence call.

During the investigation, officers say the suspect, Damien Michael Myers, 32, and an officer got into a fight, and Myers pulled a firearm.

The officer fired at Myers but did not hit him. Myers fled the scene and was later arrested without incident for felony aggravated assault on an officer.

MCSO is investigating the incident since it is standard procedure for officer-involved shootings to be investigated by an outside agency.

The involved LHCPD officer is currently on administrative leave.
