Officers, suspect uninjured in shooting incident

A man from Lake Havasu City was detained following an armed confrontation with local law enforcement over the weekend.

At approximately 9:10 p.m. on Thursday, officers were dispatched to a residence in the 3400 block of Oro Grande Boulevard. The call was regarding a reported domestic violence situation. Upon arrival, officers identified the suspect as 32-year-old Damien M. Myers.

Authorities report that Myers engaged in a physical altercation with one of the responding officers. During this struggle, Myers allegedly brandished a firearm. In response, the officer discharged his service weapon towards Myers, but the bullet did not strike him, according to the report.

Myers then reportedly fled the scene. Officers subsequently located and apprehended him without further incident. Myers faces charges of aggravated assault against an officer.

The Mohave County Sheriff’s investigators have taken over the investigation, which remains ongoing as of Friday evening. This procedure aligns with standard protocol, where external law enforcement agencies are requested to investigate officer-involved shooting incidents to avoid conflicts of interest.

The involved officer has not been identified but has been placed on administrative leave pending the investigation.
