Northern Lights Return to Arizona? Experts Say It’s Possible!

PHOENIX — NOAA’s Storm Weather Prediction Center has issued a Geomagnetic Storm Watch from Monday through Wednesday.
Experts report a potential for a G3 (strong) solar storm on Tuesday. These storms result from energized particles the sun releases, which head towards Earth and create the stunning Aurora Borealis.
Such northern lights are generally seen near the poles. However, during powerful solar storms, they may extend as far south as Texas and Arizona.
Earlier this summer, parts of Arizona experienced this rare display during the most vigorous geomagnetic storm in two decades.
Be on the lookout on Tuesday night and Wednesday for this extraordinary natural light show!
