New Traffic Light Installed at Perilous Intersection for Enhanced Safety
On August 28, 2024, a new traffic signal began its installation at the intersection of Bowlin and White and Parker Roads. Municipal crews initiated the project by erecting the first pole the previous day, marking a significant step toward improving safety at this crash-prone location.
According to city spokesperson Monica Williams, the completion date for the project remains uncertain. However, the city expects all poles to be installed by mid-September. The timeline has been affected by the need to coordinate with utility companies to navigate the large power lines running along White and Parker Road.
“We want to ensure that the work environment is safe for all crews,” Williams stated. The city has allocated $1.7 million to this project, which comprises not only the traffic signals but also essential road enhancements, including a new pavement coating and striping.
