Season under way

The Cactus Shadows Boys Basketball season for 2024 is underway, with Coach Washut entering his eighth season. His enthusiasm remains high, fueled by the return of three key players from last year’s elite playoff run that culminated in a spot in the final eight. This marks the Falcons’ fourth Elite Eight appearance in seven seasons, underscoring their consistent performance.

One standout player is 6’6 senior Trey Chemin, who is on track to surpass the 1,000 career points milestone early in the season. Chemin, who has committed to Embry-Riddle, is expected to play a pivotal role in leading the Falcons toward another successful playoff campaign.

Additionally, 6’5 senior Dane Milinovich brings versatility as a multi-talented player who contributes on both offense and defense. Sophomore Myles Godfrey will be taking on the point guard responsibilities, aiming to energize the offense with his playmaking skills.

This season also sees the addition of new talent, including juniors Riley Haggerty and Ethan Ulrich, along with sophomore Terrell Fair Jr. Their contributions will be crucial as the team seeks to build on its past successes.

The Falcons have an exciting schedule lined up, including multiple home games throughout December. The home opener is set for December 6, with the much-anticipated Silent Night game following on December 17. Varsity games will commence at 7 PM, while junior varsity games will tip-off at 5:30 PM and freshman/sophomore games at 4 PM.
