Navajo Nation’s Ex-Vice President Backs Kari Lake in Bold Endorsement
By Matthew Holloway |
Myron Lizer, the former Vice President of the Navajo Nation, has endorsed Arizona GOP Senate nominee Kari Lake, signaling potential changes in congressional dynamics for Native communities. In a statement released to AZ Free News, Lizer emphasized the importance of Lake’s commitment to the Navajo Nation, stating, “Her presence here reflects her genuine commitment to our people and our issues.” He expressed optimism about the increased engagement that her candidacy could foster.
Kari Lake responded to the endorsement on X, expressing her gratitude. “I am honored to be endorsed by Myron Lizer,” she stated. Lake criticized the historical neglect of Native communities by congressional leaders and emphasized the need for new approaches driven by America First policies. She asserted that under these policies, Native tribes could experience renewed prosperity.
Recently, Lizer, along with other leaders from the Navajo Nation, gathered with Lake and Congressman Eli Crane in St. Michaels, Arizona. Lizer described the evening as “a great night… on the Great Navajo Nation!” He noted the strong support for Lake and Crane among northeastern Arizona constituents.
The meeting facilitated discussions around Native history and current challenges, showcasing the alignment of conservative values with the interests of the Navajo people. Lizer shared insights from the event, including a post from Kally Rael of the Trump campaign, highlighting the concerns raised about the Biden administration’s policies.
During his tenure from 2018 to 2023, Lizer championed the interests of Native Americans and co-founded the Native Americans for Trump coalition in 2020. As he navigates his future political aspirations, he remains aligned with traditional Republican principles, continuing to advocate for the Native community’s needs in Washington, DC.
