Music, abstract art top Mother’s Day event

Maricopa is set to offer a unique experience for families this Mother’s Day with an inaugural concert and art gallery event on May 10, 2025.

The Maricopa Music Circle, alongside the Maricopa Chorus and Maricopa Arts Council, will host the Mother’s Day Concert & Gala, marking their first collaboration in 15 years.

Co-director Laura Olivieri emphasized the goal of creating a memorable experience, stating, “We want to give moms the best gifts we can give them, so we hope sharing a unique experience with them is on that list.”

The afternoon will feature classical pieces by Edvard Grieg and Dmitri Shostakovich, with Olivieri highlighting Tommy Dorsey’s “I’m Getting Sentimental Over You” as a standout piece. “It’s a mellow midcentury jazz piece. The harmonies in the background are just so sweet,” she added.

Attendees can also enjoy performances of favorites like Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah” and John Rutter’s “For the Beauty of the Earth” by the Maricopa Chorus.

Following the music, the event will open a reception for the Maricopa Arts Council’s abstract art gallery, featuring juried artworks in the venue’s lobby and halls, located at 37860 W. Smith-Enke Road.

Special offerings for mothers include half-off admission, swag bags, flowers, and chocolates, along with a raffle and a selfie station.

“We just hope all of our audience leaves knowing they had a fantastic time and look forward to seeing us again,” concluded Olivieri.

Doors will open at 2:15 p.m. with the performance scheduled for 3 p.m. General admission is $20, while mothers and children aged 3 and older can attend for just $10.

Free tickets will also be provided by InMaricopa. Stay tuned to their Facebook page for further details.
