Multiple flights delayed, Phoenix Sky Harbor reports

As of 11:44 a.m., Phoenix Sky Harbor reported 79 delayed flights, with no cancellations or diversions. As the holiday travel season ramps up, fliers are urged to check their airline’s website for updates.

From 11 a.m. on December 21 to 11 a.m. on December 23, 52 flights were delayed, and four flights were canceled, according to airport data collected at 8:20 p.m. on December 22. Most of these delays affected Southwest Airlines.

Last year’s holiday season was particularly challenging for Southwest, which saw over 16,900 flights canceled or significantly delayed between December 21, 2022, and January 2, 2023, as reported by the Department of Transportation.

Cancellations have also been noted for other airlines, including American Airlines, Sun Country Airlines, JetBlue Airways, United Airlines, Air Canada, Breeze, and British Airways.

Travelers can stay informed about potential delays by regularly checking their airline’s website or the Phoenix Sky Harbor airport website.
