Motorcyclist seriously injured in crash that closed intersection in Gilbert


GILBERT, Ariz. — The intersection of Guadalupe and Recker roads in Gilbert was closed in all directions Friday night following a serious crash, according to the Gilbert Police Department (GPD).

At approximately 8:30 p.m., GPD announced the closure via X (formerly Twitter). A car collided with a motorcycle, leaving the rider, a 24-year-old man, with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. He has since been transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Authorities indicated that impairment does not appear to be a factor in the incident. The closure is necessary as the Traffic Reconstruction Unit conducts a detailed investigation.

Drivers are advised to avoid the area and seek alternate routes, as it is unclear when the intersection will reopen. Updates will follow as more information becomes available.
