Mom hoping for a miracle after son is severely wounded in Florence shooting

FLORENCE, Ariz. — In a heart-wrenching turn of events, Lana Miller is grappling with the critical condition of her son, Justin, who was shot while riding an UTV near Florence. This tragic incident strikes a particularly painful chord as it follows the death of her other son, Trevor, less than a year ago.

Justin, 34, sustained life-threatening injuries on Sunday when he attempted to intervene in a dispute between two dirt bike riders. “He was just trying to protect his girlfriend from disrespectful behavior,” said Lana. “But then one of them shot him in the back of the head.” The police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

Currently on life support, Justin’s outcome remains uncertain. “He’s a fighter,” Lana stated, expressing her devastation and desire for justice. “I already lost one son; I just want my son back and healthy.” Trevor was killed in a robbery attempt last March, an act that still haunts her. “I can’t believe this is happening again,” she lamented.

In a small relief for the family, at least one arrest has been made in Justin’s case. “I just started crying,” Lana shared. “It gives me peace of mind knowing they have someone.” However, she understands that this capture doesn’t heal her son’s wounds.

As she remains steadfast by her son’s side, Lana is asking the community for prayers and support. “He wanted to start a family, and we’re all praying he can recover,” she said. The family has initiated a GoFundMe campaign to help cover medical expenses as they navigate this turbulent time.

While Florence Police have stated that the investigation continues, Lana Miller’s heart is heavy with hope and trepidation for her son’s fate.
