Monsoon Storms Likely to Hit the Valley Daily Until Thursday
PHOENIX — An intense weather system impacted the Valley on Sunday, delivering showers, thunderstorms, heavy downpours, and blowing dust.
A severe thunderstorm watch is currently active for Maricopa, Pinal, Gila, and Yavapai counties, and will remain in effect until 8 p.m. on Sunday.
While monsoon activity is expected to subside overnight, there is a 20% chance for more showers and storms on Monday afternoon in the Valley. The majority of storm activity should remain in higher terrain areas, but gusty outflow winds could ignite new storms in the Valley. High temperatures are forecasted to hit 111 degrees on Monday.
The storm chance increases to 30% for Tuesday afternoon. High temperatures are likely to remain above 110 degrees through Thursday, and there will be potential for showers and storms each day from Monday through Thursday.
