Mohave County Fair Fees May Drop Next Year as Other Park Costs Surge

The Mohave County Board of Supervisors is poised to consider a new fee schedule for county parks next year. The proposal includes maintaining the current entry fees for Davis Camp and Hualapai Mountain Parks, but proposes reductions for the county fair.
While some fees could drop, increased demand for camping and boating at Davis Camp may lead to higher costs in those areas. The board is set to vote on whether to hold a special hearing on December 2 to finalize these changes.
Proposed adjustments include lowering daily admission to the county fair from $12 to $10 for adults, and eliminating four-day passes due to low participation rates. Additionally, a new “Sunday Funday” event would introduce a lower entry fee of $5.
Visitor-friendly changes reflect ongoing trends, with reductions for recreational vehicle camping, cabins, and beach rentals at Davis Camp Park. However, prices for annual passes might rise from $50 to $70, while fees for dry camping and watercraft launching would increase significantly.
To accommodate the rising cost of new technology, a 5% surcharge could be added to credit card and online transactions. Furthermore, a new non-resident annual pass fee may be introduced to manage the influx of visitors.
Certain fees, including those for community parks and specific access points, are set to remain unchanged. If approved, the new fee structure will take effect on January 2 following the board’s decision.
The upcoming vote on whether to schedule the special Dec. 2 hearing takes place during the board’s next regular meeting in Kingman.
