Maricopa, AZ—A serious hit-and-run accident occurred this afternoon at the intersection of Bowlin Road and John Wayne Parkway, leaving a family shaken but thankful to be alive. According to eyewitness accounts, a white or grey pickup truck ran a red light, colliding with a vehicle occupied by two adults and four children, aged 1, 6, 10, and 13.

The incident took place near a Circle K gas station, where the pickup truck reportedly sped north on John Wayne Parkway before striking the family’s car. Witnesses noted the pickup truck sustained significant damage during the crash. After initially stopping, the driver fled the scene, heading north.

The driver of the family vehicle, while uninjured visibly, chose to go to the hospital for further observation at the insistence of family members. “I’m just happy they’re alive,” one relative expressed as they prepared to leave for medical attention.

Police from both Maricopa and Ak-Chin were on site to investigate, but details regarding the suspect’s vehicle remained scarce. The Maricopa police advised reporters to contact a press liaison for more information, while Ak-Chin Police indicated they were also involved in the investigation.

Several witnesses were present at the scene, waiting to provide statements to law enforcement. Notably, two young children on bicycles helped summon emergency services after witnessing the chaotic aftermath of the accident. “People are just driving way too fast out here,” remarked one observer, highlighting ongoing traffic concerns in the area. Security cameras positioned at the intersection may provide additional evidence as the investigation unfolds.
