McReynolds Shines with 15 Kills as Pima Volleyball Dominates Williston State in Straight Sets

The Pima Community College volleyball team, with a record of 3-4, commenced its participation in the Aztec Classic on Thursday, facing off against Williston State College from North Dakota.
The Aztecs emerged victorious, sweeping the match in straight sets with scores of 25-15, 25-17, and 25-18 at the West Campus Aztec Gymnasium. This victory marks the team’s sixth consecutive set win.
In the first set, Pima built an early lead at 15-12 and finished strong, scoring 10 of the last 13 points. Despite a brief tie, the Aztecs controlled the game, with freshman Julia Baird delivering the final kill to secure a double-digit win.
The second set proved more competitive. Initially trailing, the Aztecs rallied back after falling behind 11-10 and went on a scoring run, ultimately leading to a 19-13 advantage after an ace from sophomore Kenna Simon. Although Williston managed to narrow the gap, Pima held strong to win the set.
In the third set, the Aztecs surged ahead and maintained their lead throughout. After a timeout called when the Tetons cut the deficit to two points at 16-14, Pima responded with critical kills from freshmen Addy Fisher and Maggie McReynolds. The Aztecs sealed the match by scoring the final six points.
Leading the team, McReynolds recorded a remarkable 15 kills. Fisher contributed six kills and three aces, while sophomore Tameryn Koford added five kills, two blocks, and one ace. Baird also made her mark with five kills and one block.
Pima’s schedule continues as they host two more matches on Friday as part of the Aztec Classic. The Aztecs are set to clash with Treasure Valley Community College from Oregon at 9:00 a.m. before facing Highland Community College from Kansas at 4:30 p.m.
