Mayor shares her 9 goals for Maricopa in second term

Mayor Nancy Smith officially inaugurated the new Maricopa Police Station on July 27, 2024, expressing gratitude to the community for their support. During her address, she emphasized the city council’s vision to “unlock the full potential of the city of Maricopa,” aiming to foster a prosperous community.

Smith outlined her primary goals for her upcoming term, including efforts to attract jobs, enhance retail and commercial services, and improve medical facilities in Maricopa. Central to these initiatives is a strategic plan to alleviate traffic on State Route 347 while ensuring the road’s timely improvements through collaboration with the Arizona Department of Transportation.

The mayor noted the importance of maintaining low property taxes and adopting conservative budgeting practices, aiming to extend services without accruing debt. Her administration previously delivered vital infrastructure like the library and police dispatch center. Smith recognizes these advancements as crucial for the city’s growth.

In her closing remarks, she thanked her family, friends, and the numerous supporters involved in her campaign, highlighting the collective effort needed to achieve their shared vision for Maricopa.
