Mayor Cal Sheehy Heads to London for Prestigious Freedom of the City Award

Lake Havasu City Mayor Cal Sheehy is set to travel to London this week for a special honor. He will be recognized by the Lord Mayor and other dignitaries, marking the latest acknowledgment for a local resident. Significantly, Sheehy is funding the trip himself.
This prestigious honor, known as the Freedom of the City, has been awarded in the past to notable figures, including former mayor Mark Nexsen and community members Michael McCulloch, Linda Binder, and John Parrott. McCulloch, grandson of the city’s founder Robert McCulloch, will accompany Sheehy on this significant journey.
The itinerary features a tour of London’s iconic Tower Bridge, alongside a meet and greet at the historic Guildhall. The highlight will be the Freedom of the City ceremony, followed by a dinner with London officials, including the Lord Mayor and Chief Commoner.
Sheehy emphasized the importance of maintaining and enhancing the historical ties between Lake Havasu City and London, connections rooted in the legacy of Robert McCulloch. He stated, “I’m really excited to continue to build upon the decades-long relationship that Lake Havasu City has enjoyed with the City of London.” His commitment to representing the community reflects the significance of this transatlantic relationship.
