Massive Drywall Spill on SR 347 Causes Morning Commute Chaos

Early on February 25, 2025, an overturned trailer caused a major disruption on State Route 347 near Maricopa, spilling drywall across the roadway. The incident occurred around 7 a.m. and required multiple tow trucks for cleanup.
By 9 a.m., northbound traffic was still significantly delayed, frustrating commuters attempting to reach their destinations. The overturned trailer, which was part of a construction crew, overturned close to Casa Blanca Road, leading to a chaotic scene.
Spokespeople from both the Gila River Police Department and the Arizona Department of Public Safety confirmed they did not respond to the incident, raising questions among local drivers about the lack of official assistance. Autumn Tischauser, a commuter from The Villages, expressed her confusion over the slow traffic, stating, “You’re telling me that y’all are driving slow as hell this morning on the 347 and making everyone late to work because you wanted to stare at a pile of trash that fell off a truck coming southbound into Maricopa?”
Private towing services quickly mobilized to clear the debris, and by 9:30 a.m., southbound traffic was reported to be flowing normally, as efforts to remove the remains of the trailer continued.
