Marx & Noriega each have 4 RBIs, Flores throws 1-hit shutout as Pima softball dominates Glendale

The Pima Community College softball team continued its strong season with two decisive wins against Glendale Community College on Tuesday, enhancing their record to 39-5 overall and 27-5 in the ACCAC conference.

Sophomore Aubrey Marx showcased her talent, going 4 for 6 with four RBIs, while fellow sophomore Alyssa Noriega followed closely behind, finishing 5 for 8 with similar stats. Freshman Julissa Lopez and sophomore Talia Martin contributed significantly, with Lopez recording five hits and three runs, and Martin adding three hits and five runs.

In Game 1, the Aztecs decisively defeated the Gauchos 10-0 in just five innings. The scoring began in the second inning with Marx’s clutch two-run single, putting Pima in the lead. Noteworthy contributions included Cheyanne Ortiz, who drove in two runs, and Natalya Rivera, who added another with her RBI double. Freshman Arianna Flores pitched a stellar game, yielding only one hit while striking out seven batters.

The final statistics for Game 1 reflected the Aztecs’ dominance: they scored 10 runs and collected 13 hits, while Glendale managed only 1 hit. Flores secured her 17th win of the season in this match.

Game 2 was equally impressive, with Pima winning 15-6 in six innings. After trailing initially, the Aztecs roared back with a powerful second inning that saw seven runs cross the plate. Highlights included Noriega’s towering two-run home run and a crucial three-run double from freshman Belen Camacho in the sixth inning.

Noriega excelled again, recording four RBIs, while Lopez and Nunez also contributed significantly to the offensive output. Sophomore Jessica Thompson, pitching throughout the game, notched her tenth win of the season.

The Aztecs will return to action on Saturday at their home field, facing off against Paradise Valley Community College in another critical ACCAC doubleheader. The first game is scheduled to begin at noon.
